Why this website?
This website is the home for the Folder Monitor application I published on GitHub.
The licensing file needs a name and some URL.
That's all there is to it 🙂
Long time ago I published a bunch of OpenSource application to SourceForce.
They do not get much attention, but it cannot harm to put them on GitHub as well.
Each of these application gets a home on this website as well.
Maybe, just maybe, they get a bit more attention that they get now.
It's just an experiment for me to see what happens if I make my applications a bit more personal.
What about AIP?
AIP stands for Artificial Intelligence Application.
The acronym is something that by accident popped up while building this website.
The "AIP" in the URL was a process of progressive insight.
I started off with github.mydomain but felt this would limit my options.
Then it changed to app.mydomain but that felt too generic.
The FolderMonitor application has been generated using Bing Copilot in VS Code and most of the Python questions where handled by Google Gemini.
The latter is a bit more detailed in explaining code and the pros and cons if options. And there are usual many options available, especially if you are not an expert in an area, like for example Python.
My guess is that at least 95% of the code has been generated, even most of the documentation and comments as well. The design of the application was my idea. The entire application took about 1 week to develop.
The logo is a combination of "AIP" and lithograph Ascending and Descending from the Dutch painter M.C Escher.
M.C. Escher's famous lithograph Ascending and Descending (1960) was inspired by the Penrose stairs, an impossible object devised by British mathematician Roger Penrose and his father Lionel Penrose.
What a co-incidence that the painting is a lithography and at present lithography machines like DUV and EUV play such an important role in making IC chips.
